Heidi was found running in the street in Houston. She was covered with fleas. She was brought to the emergency room by a man who was trying to dump her there. He said that he didn't like dogs, but at least he was nice enough to save her from being run over by a car. Heidi is a fun, pleasant dog. Heidi would be best as the only dog, but she would probably be OK with a large submissive male dog, but not females. She would be a good pet for a one or two dog family. She has not been around kids, but would probably be fine with kids age 10 and up. Heidi is crate trained, very healthy, and walks very well on a leash.
Easthaven Dog Rescue is a small rescue organization and shelter. We rescue homeless, neglected, abused and/or abandoned pets, mainly from the Easthaven subdivision. We also have a program called "Shelter in Place." Shelter in Place assists people who currently own pets but want to give up their pets because of problems. We help solve the problems, allowing the owners to keep their pet. Some of the problems we help with include: owner can't afford vaccines or medical treatment, training and socialization problems, containment issues (no fence or fence needs repair), and other problems. We like to teach people what their pets need. Feel free to call or write if you have any pet questions.
Donations of cash or supplies are always appreciated. We would welcome volunteers who would help bathe or walk dogs.

Our Adoption Process...
Potential adopters must submit an application and be approved. If a pet is adopted, an adoption agreement must be signed. A home visit is required before the adoption is finalized. An adoption fee is required.

Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
