Elvis's Story...
My story is not unlike any other rescue dog. We all have sad stories to tell and each of us is searching for that happy ending. My original family left me when they moved. They just left me to run and I had to fend for myself. I stuck close to the neighbors and they tried to help me. Then one day I found myself in a very scary place on some sort of list. Trust me; this is a list no dog wants to end up on. They tell me I almost lost my life. Luckily, I was rescued and I was placed in a home. Phew. I was so happy to be loved again. They were going to adopt me, but then they had to move and couldn’t take me. I can’t even begin to tell you how sad and confused I felt. It seriously felt like no one wanted to love me.

The family I live with right now is really nice, but they are only fostering me. They tell me that one day I am going to have my very own forever home. I hope it’s true. I know how to sit on command and take food very gently, especially when you tell me “easy”. I am really smart and want to please. I really like kids, but it’s probably best I am placed in a home with children over 8 because I can be a little unsure of younger children. I get along with cats and I do best with other dogs who are bossier than me. I make a great watch dog. I love to cuddle and my coat is really soft. I pretty much could live any lifestyle. Daily runs or couch potato. You name it, I’m game as long as you promise to make me a part of the family. I weigh around 45 pounds. I look a lot bigger in my pictures, but I am a medium sized dog. I guess I’m not the cutest dog around, but looks aren’t everything, right?

Please, if you think you could give me a new lease on life please contact (my friend, Rene) or (the lady who rescued me, April)

Thank you,

PS...they tell me that everyone wants to know this part: I have been neutered, vaccinated and am in good doggy health. There is an adoption fee of $200 to adopt me (which sounds pretty cheap given how lovable I am!!) because the people who have helped me have spent a lot of money making me ready for a new home! My friends also wrote a note below...

[Above all and due to his unfortunate past, Elvis needs a firm, confident owner. He is fine with men but does prefer women. He will not be placed in a home with children under 8 because Elvis can be skittish and fearful of unpredictability, which small kids pose the risk of. Elvis is okay with female dogs that are dominant. Elvis does not like being touched on his back end-we are not sure why as he does not have any injuries.
Please consider this special boy. He deserves a great life!]

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Elvis, a Buffalo Shar Pei dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shar Pei for sale in Buffalo, or seeking a Shar Pei dog from a breeder in Buffalo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Buffalo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Buffalo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shar Pei breeders who help with Shar Pei rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Buffalo paves the way for another one to be saved.
