T-Jay is a very good looking, lively young purebred GSD surrendered to Sacramento Animal Care Services when his owner had to take a second job and could no longer give him the companionship he deserved. Before having his life disrupted, T-Jay was the member of a family that included two teenagers. After a few traumatizing days at the shelter, he is now settled into his foster home which includes a pack of two female GSDs and a male Border Collie.
T-Jay gets along with other dogs but prefers being with a human pack leader, often checking in while on outings. While he avoids confrontation or assertive behaviour by other members of the pack, he walks confidently and shows tremendous curiosity at the sites and sounds around him. He has not yet been tested with cats.
T-Jay is housebroken, and with daily exercise and encouragement he will lay quietly in the house and will sleep quietly through the night in a cozy dog bed next to his human. He knows sit, down, leave it, no, and he is crate trained. He enjoys car rides, and he is learning that he can get where he is going on walks without pulling on the leash.
He has good focus and eagerness to learn, and is treat motivated, so he would do best in a home where training can continue by someone who has GSD experience and an appreciation for his ability to learn. T-Jay would make an ideal partner for an active owner who would enjoy long daily walks and quality time with him.
With his intelligence and eagerness to engage in activity, T-Jay has the potential to make for a wonderful and loyal best friend.
T-Jay is a Level 2 GSD being fostered in Sonoma. He is recovering from a mild touch of kennel cough and it is anticipated he will be ready to go to his furever home next weekend.
