Burton's Story...
Meet Burton!

Burton is an 8 month old APBT mix. He came to ADPR from the Mat Su Shelter. Burton does great in the car and with other dogs. He is housebroken but learning house manners. He is still quiet puppyish, he does like to get into the trash and look up on the counters. We are working with him on this and he is catching on. It seems like he wasn't shown anything by whoever had him prior to ADPR getting him. He is unsure of some things and really looks to his foster sister for guidance and reassurance. We think he would be great in a home with another dog to show him new things. He loves to play and does have energy, he would make a wonderful running buddy. Burton is very good with his food we can touch it and him while he is eating and it doesn't stress him in the least. With a little training he will make a wonderful addition to any household.

*Update*Burton has been learning basic obedience and is catching on quickly. He has vastly improved on his house manners! He LOVES other dogs. Today we went downtown to check out the ice sculptures and Burton behaved fantastically! He walks wonderful on leash without any pulling and was very happy to meet all the adults and children. He rides very well in the car without disturbing anything when left alone in their either. He does tend to have some issues with his food and other dogs, but is just fine with people.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Burton, a Wasilla American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Wasilla, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Wasilla.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wasilla already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wasilla breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wasilla paves the way for another one to be saved.
