My story

UPDATE:
Bernie has completed his surgery and recovery and is ready for his new home. His cherry eye is much improved, but his right eye does still have a small protrusion. The vet said this is purely cosmetic and does not need to be corrected. It is not causing any vision problems or eye irritation.

Regarding his posture and mobility issues, the vet has diagnosed him with mild hip dysplasia in both hips. When looking at his hips, the socket on each side does not completely cover the ball of his femur. The vet said that this will likely need to be addressed in the future, but for now a good joint supplement and exercise are the recommendations.

Of course, Bernie has no idea there is anything wrong with him. He loves to run and play in the yard. Bernie gets along very well with people of all ages, dogs of all sizes, and cats. He does have quite a bit of energy so small children could be knocked down. A bit of loving, patient training will help with that too.

Bernie came into rescue when his family was unable to afford his medical costs to correct the cherry eye and diagnose his mobility issues.
