Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Nicole's wonderful foster family writes:
Nicole, a 50 pound, 2 year old chocolate Lab mix, is excited to start her new life here in Colorado! Before coming to GRFR, Nicole spent her time making adorable puppies. She's put that behind her and is busy being an adorable puppy herself! During the first 24 hours Nicole was with us, she slept for a total of 4 hours. (Including at night!) She was so excited to explore everything in our home. She started fading around 4:30 PM and instead of finding a place to lay down, she started drifting off to sleep while standing up! That was Nicole's first day. Since then, she's decided that sleep is a very important part of her day!
Living in a home is new to Nicole and she's LOVING it! She loves soft toys, especially the loud, squeeky kind. She loves going to the dog toy bin, grabbing a toy, and proudly parading around the house with it. Nicole sleeps on a dog bed in our room at night and for naps, she'll sleep wherever we are. Nicole a quick learner and is motivated by praise and chin rubs.
Nicole is great on leash and loves walking and running! On our first walk, she spotted a bunny. Mimicking the two dogs I was walking with, she ran after it. Before she got to the end of the leash, I yelled, "No!" She stopped and immediatly came back to a heel position! (If only our own dogs would have listened as well!) Now Nicole walks by the prairie dog towns nearby, watching them but not chasing them. She loves to play with her playful foster sister and leaves her non-playful foster sister alone. Nicole is fine with our cat as well as with our 4 year old son. Nicole is housetrained and likes to ride in the car.
Nicole gets so excited to see us when we come home after work and first thing in the morning when she realizes we are awake, but then settles down well. She'll bounce all around us, jumping way up in the air, making our 4 year old laugh out loud! As much as she loves her daily walks, she's ok if it's too windy out and we have to skip a day. Nicole is kenneled when we aren't home and doesn't seem to mind this. She does know the word "no" and is a quick learner! Learning to "sit" was mastered in 5 tries, with nothing but kisses and chin rubs (and a whole lot of hysterical praise!) She loves to please her people and wags her tail non-stop!
