My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi – I’m Petey! I have been in foster care for a little while and am now in search of a very special home to call my own for the rest of my life. You see, I’ve had a bit of a rough first act. I was picked up as a stray in Florida – infested with fleas and with a terrible skin infection. Living on the streets, I learned that when I found food, I had to protect it in order to survive. I was adopted out and returned twice because I had trouble adapting to feeling safe in my own home. I was a day away from being euthanized, when I was saved by some people who saw my true potential. With the help of a couple of rescue groups, I made my way to Missouri and to All About Paws Rescue. Since being in foster care here, I am learning that I am safe and loved and that it’s ok to let people take things away from me. I’m still not real sure about sharing with other dogs, so I will need to be the only dog in my forever home. I love to curl up on the couch with my foster mom and snuggle in for a nap. I am crate-trained and house-trained too! I like nothing more than to have a good game of fetch and go for a nice walk around the neighborhood, since I love meeting new people! I know how to sit on command, and will benefit from someone who will provide positive-reinforcement basic obedience training.
In his foster home, Petey has been following the ASPCA’s Food Guarding Program protocol and in very little time, has made tremendous progress! We are able to take his food away without him showing any guarding behaviors! This will, however, require ongoing work from his adopter and while that does not require much time at all, it does require some commitment. Petey is still overcoming his earlier life circumstances, so will need a calm, experienced dog owner who will help him continue with the great progress he’s already made! Won’t you please consider giving Petey the special home he needs? Petey is up to date on all shots, microchipped, de-wormed, heart worm negative, had a dental, and neutered. Petey’s adoption fee is $200.00. For an adoption application, e-mail buckyditsy@yahoo.com. All potential adopters are required to fill out and submit an adoption application. Once the application is reviewed and approved a home visit from a rescue representative is scheduled. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport, WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS.
