My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frodo Baggins is a FANTASTIC little dog that was found waiting at my gate in a rural part known for dumping dogs. He is age one and is a friendly, non-fussy type. He weighs 14 lbs. and has a beautiful black coat with a glossy sheen when clean. He is most certainly cuter in person. Though he falls into the category of small dog, due to his taller frame and longer legs, he can do some of the things that big dogs do; i.e., run, hike, and play with the other larger (or smaller) dogs at dog park. I would NOT consider Frodo to be a hyper dog. He is just normal.

The best thing about Frodo is his warm, loving, and submissive nature. Because of this, I tend to believe that he would be fine with children. If he is the only dog in the home, he is basically a mellow guy, who can entertain himself when you are not able to play with him. (He is often found playing with all of the toys in the toy basket on his own, tossing them all around and enjoying them.) However, if there are other dogs present in the home that are more on the playful side, he will definitely rise to the occasion and play, but he can still calm down. So if you are looking for a good playmate for your already existing dog, or, a smaller dog that can do the things that bigger dogs can do, like run with you, then Frodo is your guy! Even if you just want a cuddle bug, Frodo can be that too. That is the great thing about Frodo; he is just an all around versatile dog!

Frodo is crate-trained and crates extremely well. He was not initially house-trained, but he caught on very quickly. At this point, I would call him potty trained though in any new environment, reinforcement would be needed.

Frodo is sensitive and in tune to humans. He responds well to correction (as opposed to some dogs that do not listen well and they are running around in all different directions when you are trying to address them). Frodo is not destructive in the house and is not a barker. He is a fairly smart dog, catching on to new things and to the routine quickly, such as how he learned to use the doggie door on his own, as well as retrieve toys and bring them back to you (see video).

Frodo is neutered, fully vaccinated, and micro-chipped. We cannot claim that Frodo is Hypoallergenic, but scruffy types are definitely lower shedding dogs, which is a huge plus.
