My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Dasher. I've had a rough go of things and I really need a forever home with someone I can love unconditionally. I was taken into animal control after I was mauled by a large dog. My back was broken just below the hips and the bite wounds all over my body were infected. Animal control thought they were ringworm and put me on the list for euthanasia. Because I was so sweet the director of the shelter sent out a plea to rescue on my behalf asking for someone to nurse me back to health. Just before Christmas I was taken to my foster home but not before I caught a bad cold at the shelter. My first few weeks were so rough all I could do was lay on the floor. After some good vet care and attention I started feeling better. The vet said my tail had to be amputated due to the break and because this was such a rough surgery I have to wear an e-collar for a month. I don't love the e-collar and not being able to clean myself has made me a little rough looking but I assure you I am still very cuddly. I also have some allergies which make my eyes itch and swell up, I need allergy pills every day during my allergy season but they are available over the counter for around $4 for a big bottle. Before I sound like a hypochondriac, I should point out my good features. I am a super sweet guy, I love to cuddle, I love to go for walks and I use the dog door like a champion. I even figured out to get through it with the e-collar on! I take treats very nicely and because I lost my tail, my whole body wags when I'm happy to see you which they tell me really cute. I'm good with cats, good with kids and good with some other dogs. I prefer female dogs or non-dominant males and I'm ok even with big dogs like the one who hurt me. I may get insecure and fight with and mark if I'm around another small male who is not comfortable letting me be the alpha male in the house, it's just how I roll. I'm a super sweet little boy who has had some rough breaks and I am desperately looking forward to a forever home where I can be loved and adored for the loving little guy I am.
