Here is what Missy's foster family had to say about her:
Missy is a very sweet, gentle black lab. She is rarely in a rush to eat, warms quickly to strangers after a short scratch. She is never aggressive and has barked only 3 times in a week. We have a 1 year old child and they enjoy playing with each over. Missy doesn't mind if he isn't always totally gentle. She will lick his hands but never goes for his face. She is not overly playful but is happy to play with you and enjoys her rope toy. She does has a slight fear of throwing things and cowers when you swing your arm. She has never growled or barked aggressively and in fact she rarely barks unless their is good reason. She will bark when strangers come to the door but otherwise is very quiet in the home.
We have had no issues meeting other dogs one on one, and she has no want to chase cats or squirrels. She was ambushed by two large poodles once and quickly ran between my legs for protection. I believe she was overwhelmed from their excitement and just needed reassurance. She does not bark at all when you leave but wants to look out the windows. We have had no accidents when we are out and she is left loose in the house. She doesnt mind going into her crate but isnt a fan. When we go out we often come back to the couch cushions being readjusted but no mess.
Missy is totally house trained and we do not crate her when we go out. She is nearly leashed train, and although she might pull some at times, she generally stays close to your side and is easy to walk. She will run out the door if left open but with a stern tone will return quickly with her tail between her legs. Responds quickly to a male voice especially.
Missy is a wondeful companion for any lifestyle as she can remain alone for 6-8 hours without a problem. She loves to be pet and scratched and is wonderful with children. She would prefer to have a yard to explore and play in.
