Clay's Story...
The wonderful disposition of hound dogs make them a favorite at our shelter. Our English Coonhound is a gorgeous 1-2 year old brought to us as a stray. Clay has all of the wonderful qualities we love about hounds: He is gentle and obedient, content to lay in his kennel, or at our feet while we are on our break time. He gets along well with others, although care must always be taken when around cats, who can easily be mistaken as prey. And last but not least, who doesn't enjoy the melodious sound of a baying hound to sound the alert of visitors to the home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Clay, a Pisgah English (Redtick) Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English (Redtick) Coonhound for sale in Pisgah, or seeking a English (Redtick) Coonhound dog from a breeder in Pisgah.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pisgah already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pisgah breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English (Redtick) Coonhound breeders who help with English (Redtick) Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pisgah paves the way for another one to be saved.
