My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear is a true sweetheart! When he came to us, he was almost skin and bones—he had been chained to an old tractor and left at an abandoned junk yard without food or water. Bear was found by Animal Control and turned into a high kill shelter in NC... He also had the severest case of heartworm, which he has been treated for and is now completely heartworm free! He has also since doubled his weight, becoming a handsome, healthy boy. Such a sad story, but you would never know—he has not one mean bone in his body and his ALL LOVE. And happy... he is all smiles, and all tail wags, and even whole-body wiggles! He loves all people, dogs, cats, and LOVES kids. He is considerate, has great home manners and just the sweetest dog you will ever meet.

Bear does have pica, which developed because he was starved. Pica is when an dog will eat usual items. He is outgrowing it, but in the meantime Bear will need to go to a home where he can have a safe room clear of all items while he is not supervised until he fully outgrows this.

Bear is up-to-date on all shots and vaccines, neutered, micro-chipped, and house-trained. Bear has such a huge heart, and deserves a loving, forever home!
