My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bridgette is a sweet and cute little dog with a lot of love to give. She bonded quickly. She is gentle and docile with people and children and allows all handling. She is medium energy and adapts to the flow of the household well. She has a puppy like quality to her which is very endearing. She so loves human companionship that she starts to wag her tail even if you just look her way. She is a very happy girl.

Here is what else Bridgette's foster family had to say:

Bridgette is friendly but not outgoing. She approaches new people slowly and is not overly excited. She is well mannered in this regard. Children are drawn to Bridgette because she looks like a puppy and she approaches them in a very calm and friendly way. She does not get excited or jump and when they bend down to greet her she tries to sniff their noses which is very sweet, but not allowed. She is playful with other dogs and likes chew toys for a short period of time. Bridgette has absolutely no aggression towards people but she would like to be the boss of the dogs. She will tussle with the females but it is not serious and is easily called away. Bridgette seems more cautious with men but is not really fearful.

Bridgette gets along well with the 4 dogs here, but she definitely prefers the males. She has had a couple of tussles with our deaf female dog but nothing serious and it is over as soon as someone intervenes, and then they will go back to sleeping together. She is overly interested in the cats and while not aggressive with them is too rough in how she plays.

Bridgette does not display separation anxiety and is crated when no one is home. She is not 100% housebroken and she will, on occasion, grab something to chew so until she is completely trustworthy she is crated during our absence. She doesn’t love the crate but settles nicely when inside. She is not overly active so I would have to say low to moderate energy. She is a low to moderate shedder. She is Very quiet. She rarely barks.

Her spay scar is taking a while to heal but it doesn’t bother her in any way. Bridgette has a good appetite. I would guess she is about a year old.

Bridgette knows how to sit and will come when called, most of the time. She does need work on obedience as she is sometimes selective on these commands. She is not fully housebroken but is well on her way. She sleeps on a bed at night and has never had an overnight accident. She now knows to go outside and pee when told but she must be watched for signs that she has to go as she will not yet tell us. Bridgette is not leash trained and does walk ahead, but only pulls when she wants to do something on her own. She could really benefit from a basic obedience class as she is a quick learner, is food motivated and really wants to be a good girl. She hates it when she thinks she has upset us in any way. She will often pick something up to carry around when she is happy, but is generally not destructive and very well mannered in the house. She is pretty easy to have around.

Bridgette would be a good single dog/pet. She would also be a good companion for a playful male dog. She is fine with the 2 female dogs she is currently living with but she will initiate a scuffle over possessiveness. I would not recommend she live with cats unless time is taken to show her how to play nicely with them or leave them alone. It will not happen without some work. She is a very sweet and loyal little girl and is very affectionate and gentle. She wants to be with her person constantly and loves to lie by your side. With some training she will be an amazing and sweet companion. She is the perfect size for a house or an apartment and she is very quiet.
