My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl who landed in the "pound". Her owners brought her there because they had "too many animals", knowing that she could very well be euthanized due to extreme overcrowding, and that's exactly what happened. Due to a lack of space, Lollipop's fate was sealed...

This precious girl captured our volunteer's hearts before she even became a part of the RESCUE family. One night, a volunteer opened a link featuring dogs that were to be euthanized the very next morning. What she saw were sad, pleading brown eyes peering through the bars of the kennel Lollipop was caged in. This amazing dog's photo was shared and networked reaching several rescues in Arizona. On the morning of what was to be Lollipop's last day on earth, RESCUE arrived at Animal control to evaluate dogs in need, and hopefully save some lives! There was "Lolli", still expressing sadness in her eyes, but this time, there was something else coming through..hope! That hope turned into cautious joy as a RESCUE volunteer slipped a lead around her neck and took her outside. Lolli became animated, affectionate, and even a little silly after spending some time with our volunteers. We took Lolli with us that day, and thankfully, her life was spared.

Lolli soon moved into foster care post spay surgery, and this is what her foster mom shared with us: "Lolli is AMAZING!! She is a true joy to have in our home. She is wickedly smart and quickly picked up on commands such as "leave it", "Wait", "sit", "Down", and "stay". There is no limit to what this girl can learn! Lolli also proved to be self sufficient in letting herself out to go to the bathroom, because...she can open doors! "Lever" style handles are a cinch for her to open, so any doors that lead unsecured outdoors need to be locked for her safety. In our case, ours led out to the fenced back yard, so we got a kick out of watching her come in /out. Lolli is perfectly housetrained. She sits by the door to let us know when she needs to go out and immediately does her business. Indoors, she has been SO well behaved! She has never once put anything in her mouth that did not belong to her, despite the many, many toys laying around from our young daughter. Lolli has a way of making you feel like you are the most important, loved person on earth! Any time I enter a room, she exudes happiness and joy, like she hasn't seen me for days! She is like this with our entire family. SUCH a special dog! If we were in a position to adopt right now, Lolli would be "the one", NO QUESTION. She is AMAZING and deserves an equally amazing adopter/family. Whoever adopts this girl into their family is going to be truly blessed!!!"

Lolli has long "runners" legs and a body built for speed! She is poetry in motion when running and would be an ideal running partner! Lolli needs a large back yard that will enable her to release the "doggie crazies" from time to time. She loves racing around the grass with a big ol' silly smile on her face, and pouncing on toys. Walks around the block won't cut it for this active gal. She'll need daily runs to burn off her energy.

Lolli has a wonderful temperment with children, however she does have a tendency to jump up and sometimes give "love nibbles" when excited, so older children are recommended.

Her foster mom also reports that Lolli is a grade A cuddler on the couch, and is the world's best sleep partner. Not only is she quiet and "out" for the night, but she does not snore, which is more than can be said for her foster dad!

So, Lolli's "once upon a time" didn't start off very well, but YOU have the opportunity to write the rest of her story....Lolli deserves her "happily ever after". Is her story with you? She's waiting to hear from you and to start her new life! To learn more - www.azrescue.org.

Lollipop weighed 55.4 lbs. when we saved her from the kill list.
