My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Noah is a tenny tiny full-grown boy, weighing just a little more than 4 pounds. When he came to us, he was underweight and missing lots of fur from a flea allergy. He's packed on a pound and his hair is coming back and he's just a sweetie! He came to the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad after being found abandoned inside a home with two other chihuahuas. He was on her way to the pound when the rescue was able to intervene and get him to safety. Noah is cuddly and sweet and loves attention. He's a little shy when meeting people for the first time, but loves everybody -- including other dogs and cats and children -- once he has a chance to feel confident in his surroundings. Noah has been neutered, is heart-worm negative and is up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is house trained to pads. We are estimating his birthday at 01-01-2009.

Noah is very bonded to another chihuahua who was rescued from the same house as he. We believe this dog, Natalie, may be his mother. The two would very much like to be adopted together and we would offer a discounted adoption fee on the pair.

PLEASE you must click the following link in order to read about our process and to apply for this dog: http://members.petfinder.org/~TN564/IntroductionD.htm

Or e-mail adoptions@dixiepetunderground.org to request an adoption application.

Once we receive your complete application, an adoption counselor will call you within 48 hours of receipt of the application. During the adoption interview, the adoption counselor will tell you more about the puppy and our adoption processes, as well as answer any questions you have.

Dogs and puppies are up-to-date on their vaccinations, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, treated for fleas/ticks and heartworm negative before leaving rescue. You will receive complete medical records for your dog or puppy at the time of adoption.

The adoption fee is $425 and covers the cost of all veterinary care and transportation to your area.

Our dogs and puppies are delivered via a USDA-certified van transport and receive an Interstate Health Certificate -- issue by a licensed, accredited veterinarian -- no more than 10 days before the dog or puppy leaves rescue.

All of our dogs and puppies come into rescue from the "death row" of animal shelters in the south, or are owner surrenders or strays who were "pound bound" before coming into rescue. Adopting a dog or puppy from the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad means you are truly part of a partnership to save the life of the dog or puppy that you welcome into your family.

Our dogs and puppies are fostered at our rescue in Tennessee, meaning that it isn't possible to meet the dog or puppy before adoption. Our adoption counselor works with you to do everything possible to ensure that there is a good match between the family and the dog. We have had several hundred dogs adopted using this process and most of the time, it results in happy puppies and happy people.

If for any reason an adoption is not successful, the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad will work with the adopter to find the best possible solution for the dog and the adopting family.

We can provide contact information for adopters in your area who can tell you about their experience partnering with the Underground Railroad to save the life of a dog and make the animal a part of their family.

We look forward to hearing from you and working with you to find the right dog for your family!
