My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jack is 2-1/2 years old and is a handsome Australian Cattle Dog mix. Although we are not sure of his exact breed makeup, he has one of those wonderful character-filled faces that makes you smile.

Jack is being surrendered because his family is changing and he needs attention and exercise that they can't give him.

He is a happy, playful and charming boy who has energy to spare. A home that will provide him plenty of opportunity for exercise such as jogging or regular brisk walks as well as other outdoor fun is the best match for Jack. As he has herding in his genetic makeup, he is the type of dog that loves to have a job to do. A calm and confident leader would be necessary for Jack.

Jack is fine alone in the house for a normal workday, and does not get into mischief when loose in the house. He is friendly around men and women. Although he loves children, his exuberant style may be a bit too much for younger ones and he would do better with older children.

As far as outdoor activities, Jack loves to swim and has been trained to be a great roller-blading partner as well. He plays well with male dogs, female dogs and small dogs, although he may bark at a dog that barks at him on his walks. He has not been tested with cats, but has been exposed to other small animals and is fine with them. Jack has helped his family raise birds, squirrels and a raccoon and let the babies crawl on him, and he carried them gently in his mouth, and alerted his family when they moved too far. If the babies whined, he was very concerned.

Jack is a very intelligent dog and knows many commands, both spoken and signed. He would be fantastic at a dog sport such as flyball or agility!

Please note: We do not have a physical location, but we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.

Thank you for considering rescue!
