My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chloe is a very special dog. She is extremely affectionate, gentle, sensitive to commands and playful. She has met many different dogs and people on our walks and is consistently sociable and well mannered. Chloe has come from a home environment but unfortunately her owners were unable to continue caring for her and her sister Zoe who will also be coming up for adoption.

Here is what else her foster family had to say about Chloe:

Chloe always wags her tail extra hard when she meets children and is evidently very happy to be around them as long as they are mature and well behaved. She is extremely gentle but has on occasion jumped up to greet people (she is learning not to) and because she is on the larger size she might unintentionally knock down small or young children. She has a very gentle nature and has not growled or snapped at anyone while she has been living with us. She is not aggressive at all.

She seems to love women and children of all ages and she is especially fond of men in the 20 to 40 age group who are non threatening, gentle and calm. Chloe is not relaxed in the company of authoritarian, stern or macho men. While she is not timid she can be a little shy when meeting large and boisterous dogs but once she realises that they just want to play she is happy to indulge in a game of chase. When there are a large number of dogs at the leash free park she is not sure how to enter the game and sometimes runs back and stays close until she figures out who to play with.

Chloe is a joy to have around other pets in the home. She is naturally more on the submissive side, so there are never any fights over toys or territory. She particularly enjoys snuggling up on the sofa with my Dachshund and likes to lie very closely (sometimes partly on top of!) her human companions. She has met our cat, who is quite wary of dogs, and she hasn't made any attempt to chase him but it is obvious that she is somewhat confused by his presence.
Chloe goes into her crate at night time where she sleeps quietly throughout the night. While she doesn't mind the crate and is very quiet in it, she is perfectly well behaved if allowed to roam around the house and with the exception of a minor nibble on her blanket has shown no desire to chew anything. She seems to have outgrown her puppy stage and can be trusted in the home. She is fully house trained. The only time I have heard her bark is when she is actively playing outside with another dog and even then it is the odd bark of joy. Chloe shows no fear of noises or passing traffic. She enjoys playing with a ball, especially with another dog and loves to run free at the leash free forest. She comes back immediately when called and rounds up the other dogs when they don't respond as quickly. Her energy level is moderate. She is delighted with one good free run per day and a shorter walk or playtime in the backyard.

Chloe seems to be very healthy. I took her to the doggy wash at a local pet store where she stood beautifully while she was shampooed, conditioned and blown dry. Chloe appears to be approximately 18 months old. She has outgrown all of the typical puppy issues but is still very playful. Chloe responds to "sit" and will lie down when asked. She has excellent recall. She rides well in the car, enjoys looking out of the window and will lie quietly on the back seat. She will wait quietly in the car when required. Chloe is well on her way to being leash trained. She walks well beside you when you ask her to. She has never tried to steal food or jump up at the kitchen counter and is very well mannered in the home. Chloe has made no attempt to escape from the backyard and she is very good about waiting her turn to go out the front door when asked.

Chloe is one of the most exceptional dogs I have ever met. She is truly special. She would be best suited to a calm family and, because she is sensitive, one with very well behaved children. She needs to be with people who will make lots of time for her, exercising her, playing with her and hanging out together. She would be unhappy in a boisterous or chaotic environment or one where she was left alone for long periods of time as she craves human company and is such a beautifully behaved companion to take out and about. She would do well with an "outdoorsey" young couple who would take her with them on long walks and hikes. She appreciates an established routine and a loving environment. Chloe would also be happy with an active retired couple as long as she got plenty of exercise and the opportunity to socialise.
