My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Duke's foster dad is very fond of him, understands him well and wrote, "Looking into the loving eyes of this tall, dark and handsome Golden Retriever mix, you can see that he is longing for his very own forever family. Although he is only 1 1/2 years old, Duke has already had to move twice, through no fault of his own. Sweet Duke quickly found a home with a GRFR family who loved him very much. Due to some unexpected circumstances, they were no longer able to care for Duke so he came back to GRFR to find love again. Do you want to be that person who Duke will love unconditionally, asking only for the same in return? Do you have a playful four legged sibling for Duke? Well then, look no further. . . . Duke just may be your match.

Having only been in his foster home for a little over a week, Duke has already made himself at home with four human roommates and a furry four-legged friend. He has that easy going, go-along Golden-hearted personality . . . . Want to go chase balls at the dog park, Duke? 'Sure, thing!' Want to go for a hike, buddy? 'Of course -- let's go now!' How about we just stay in and watch a movie tonight, boy? 'Why most definitely . . . You make the popcorn this time, please.' I'm telling you Duke is down for just about anything. He's a youngin' and ready for adventure, leisure . . . whatever you suggest. Duke is a velcro boy - loving to be by your side. When he's not by your side he is wrestling and playing with his foster dog buddy. He cannot get enough of that doggy playtime! Having grown up with a dog sibling, Duke is accustomed to being around another dog 24/7. So, please note, a dog sibling for Duke is a must."

If a great dog like Duke sounds like the match you and your dog have been looking for, please fill out your application today to get the adoption process started and our volunteers will be in touch. Duke would love to meet you and your dog too.

Many Golden lovers are not aware of how doomed black dogs, like Duke, are when they are brought into the average animal shelter. Even "Black Goldens," as we call our wonderful mixes often suffer such a fate. You and GRFR are part of the solution. Read more on our home page: "Help Fight Black Dog Syndrome" and check out the links too.
