My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Loretta is a young gal but has seen much in that short time. Sadly it doesn't appear that much of what she's seen has been good. When we rescued her we noted that she had small scars along her legs and belly, most likely from brushes and ground debris. She has a "bump" on her left front leg that is from a previous fracture that did not receive medical treatment so eventually her body healed itself. Part of the tip of her nose is missing and her tail appears to have been broken at some point as well. All very sad things for this young but sweet girl. And yet when we rescued her, she only wanted to be close to us, to be held or lay in your lap. As if she was saying "finally, help is here. Please don't leave me!" It was heartbreaking.

Loretta clearly hasn't enjoyed the life of a loved dog. But with the patience and TLC from our amazing RESCUE volunteers Loretta is learning to enjoy life. She now knows how to walk on a leash and has a happy walk. She enjoys the company of dogs. She rides well in the car although she is still afraid to jump in on her own. Loud noise still scare her and make her want to run away. However providing her comfort helps her relax and understand that our noisy world is not always a bad place.

Loretta is a gentle, old soul dog. She needs and deserves a patient, loving home that will spoil her for the rest of her life. Daily walks are important for her exercise needs and socialization. While Loretta's physical scars will always remain, with plenty of love we know that it won't take long for Loretta to forget her terrible past and live life to the fullest with all the love that is in her BIG heart!
