My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Holly is a 1 1/2 year old fawn female with natural ears that flop on the top of her head all the time! She's underweight and will need some help catching up to her height (nearly 34" at the shoulder). She's still very much a puppy in a grown dane's body. She currently is living with cats, but has a high prey drive and will chase if they run. She would probably be okay with a dog-savvy cat, but not one that is nervous or flighty. She's come into foster with almost no training... about all she knows is 'sit,' and will only really do that if she's getting 'paid' in return. Her foster home is working on clicker training with her on a number of things, especially 'stay,' 'leave it' and her impulse control (which needs work). She does, however, walk marvelously on a leash. She does not like being separated from her people and will whimper and worry when put away at bedtime. She loves to play and run, she is great at playing fetch with herself and will chase a ball (but doesn't really bring it back-would rather throw it up in the air herself and chase). Still waiting to find out if this one is a barker in the yard. Some days she's quiet and fine when people walk by or approach the yard, others she barks at school kids at the bus stop across the street. She greets new guests to the home fine; she'll bark when the door is knocked and needs to learn to back up and stay for the door, but is fine with strangers. We've only met one other dog so far, while on a walk, but it was unleashed and following us and barking and Holly was apathetic to remotely interested. Though she did have issues with small dogs in her previous home, this was probably due to her prey drive. Additionally she had foster homes changed due to concerns between the previous foster's female dane and Holly-this may have been a case of Holly not really having proper manners as well as some gender clashing. She's the only dog in her current foster home. She's not a counter-surfer, though she is a beggar. Again, she just needs to learn some rules-she's had none really thus far. With a regular routine, discipline, and some structure, she should turn out nicely. Holly will be a gorgeous girl (more than she already is) when she fills out!
