My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scarlett and Cocoa are sister Bichon/Shih Tzu mixes that were born on 2/5/11. They were relinquished to the shelter because their owner could no longer care for them, and she asked if we could try to place them as a pair, so we will give preference to an adopter willing to adopt both dogs. The dogs love to play and wrestle together and are devoted companions Scarlett is the larger of the two. Her owner says she is a great dog who loves attention and loves to be petted, loves her treats but is a grazer when it comes to eating her food. She loves to run around outside and loves to explore and play. She has never been around cats or small children but the children they lived with are 10, 12 and 14 yrs old. She is very easygoing and happy in all situations. She is devoted to her sister Cocoa. Cocoa is the smaller dog in the pictures. Cocoa does not like to have treats or toys taken from her and likes to be left alone when she is sleeping. Due to that, she would be best suited for a home without young kids. She needs an owner that will not let her get away with being the alpha dog, so she isn't a good fit for a first time dog owner.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application. Our dog adoption fee is $350. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar, leash and crate.
With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.

All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we do not have a staff. One of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
