JOSEY's Story...
During one of the heavy thunderstorms last winter, a lady named Sandy was driving down a country road outside Brookshire, TX, when she spotted a dark object, smack in the middle of the road. She came to a sudden stop and was shocked to discover a tiny, black dog, sitting still and shivering in the rain. Whoever dumped the 8 pound black chihuahua/rat terrier mix in the middle of nowhere, (the nearest house in both directions was a mile away) left her a raw hot dog for her "last supper." Sandy scooped up little "Josey" into her arms and drove her to Houston to our mutual dog lover friend, Judy, who lives in West University. It was there we met "Josey" for the first time, frightened but happy to be out of harm's way. She endeared herself to everyone around her, looking up at us with those big, beautiful brown eyes. Our vet said she was close to a year old and coming into her first heat, which we all surmised, was the reason she was cruelly abandoned. Josey is a sweetheart, dainty and diminutive, hardly raises her voice, and if you hold her, she will literally close her eyes and go into a meditative state. A very Zen dog. Because of her gentle and affectionate nature, she would be the perfect first puppy for a family with very young children or for an empty nester who would love to shower her with attention. Josey is spayed, up to date on all her shots, and HW-. Come and meet this priceless, little treasure at this Tuesday's Rice University Farmer's Market. To arrange a meeting, contact Janice: .

Why Adoption is a Great Option

JOSEY, a Houston Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier for sale in Houston, or seeking a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Chihuahua/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
