Here's what the humans have to say about me:
7/13/12 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!
ADOPTION FEE: $600
Fostered in Texas
Weight: 5 lbs.
Age: 1 year
5/11/12 - Dexter had his bi-lateral luxating patella surgery on 5/8 and is doing great with his recovery. His foster mom set up an ex-pen in the living room for him so he won't move around too much, but is still in the middle of the action. They go back in 10-14 days for removal of his stitches, and in 8 weeks for a final x-ray to confirm that everything has healed correctly.
4/20/12 - Dexter had an appt. with the specialist on 4/18/12 and it was determines that both of his back knees will need surgery for luxating patellas (which is very common in yorkies). The surgery will be scheduled for next week and after healing, he’ll be perfect and ready for his new home and family.
4/17/12 - For you to have gone to the Yorkie Haven website, you’ve already decided to add a new addition to the family. Let my resumé help you out on picking me over all the other applicants. Dexter of Yorkie Haven Rescue. Objective: looking for a position as new dog of household with room for advancement to senior dog of household when proven capable of handling the promotion. Experience: I have 1 year (dob: 4/9/11) experience in being an adorable yorkie. History: my last 2 employers were downsizing and I had to be let go (yes, in just 1 year, this is 4th home). Skills: my skills include eating, sleeping, loving my owner(s), going outside to do my business (with a little help with the door handle) and being sweet. I have already had my physical, am up to date on shots, neutered and am heartworm negative. I also have a luxating patella on one of my back knees, but my great foster family is going to get that fixed and I'll be good as new.
A little more about me personally for your information: I am a super eager eater and once done with my food, will try to steal my foster siblings food when they aren’t watching. I love being with my people. I sleep well through the night, but am ready for breakfast and potty time as soon as the alarm goes off. I am wearing a diaper for boys (how humiliating), but for now while I am in potty training process, it saves furniture and the carpet. I am doing very well with foster mom bringing me outside quite often. Since I never really had toys previously, I haven’t started to play with them yet, but I’m still taking everything in right now. Also, there must have been some mean people in my previous home(s) since I crouch down when foster mom leans over to attach my leash to my harness or pick me up. I’m also a little timid of feet. My foster parents are teaching me that I will never be around mean people again though. I will need a fenced in yard since I am puppy and have puppy energy to get out. Due to my small size, small children in the home will be a no-no. I’m not that great of a jumper, so I will wait for you to pick me up to put me on the sofa or on the bed. I do like to be petted, but won’t hog up your time or demand all of your attention.
Although I will not be able to be adopted prior to my surgery and recuperation time, I am setting up formal interviews now. If you would like one, you can fill out an application and one of my volunteers will get back with you.
