My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Lupe. He's 11 years old, and only narrowly escaped death when the shelter workers where he was being held got so busy they forgot to take him to the gas chamber. His owner had become unable to take care of him, and when she tried to return him to the rescue where she had originally gotten him 6 years earlier they said Lupe was now too old and "unadoptable" for them to accept him back, so she took him to the shelter, aka "the pound."

He was so sad and heartbroken that he finally curled up in a corner and just waited to die. The shelter workers said he hadn't been like that when he came in, but as time went on and no one came to save him, or even paid much attention to him because he wasn't a bouncy puppy or purebred, he just seemed to give up, and who could blame him?

Then we came along - 2 softies with a heart for dogs and a special fondness for old dogs with gray muzzles - and everything changed in an instant. We ransomed him, brought him home, gave him a bath and the run of the house & yard, and his spirits immediately started to rise. Now he's waiting for someone, somewhere, to look into his eyes and see what a special, good boy he really is, and who will give him a home where he can lay around on the rug, and sit in the sunshine, and enjoy his golden years. He's a calm, quiet, very polite fellow who deserves to retire in peace.

He's housetrained, doesn't bark excessively, and gets along with other dogs, and cats. His teeth really show his age, and there is decay and staining.

We've taken him to the vet, where he got a thorough checkup, tested for HW & other nasties, brought UTD on shots, and given a clean bill of health!!
