My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mo is a very healthy 11 year old. He has a little arthritis in a front leg that causes him to limp a bit after he has run hard chasing balls. He also has a collapsing trachea that is not a problem for him if he is walked on a mesh harness so there is no direct pressure on his throat. His teeth are in geat shape.
Mo sits on command and can sit indefinitely on his back haunches waiting for a treat. He looks like a prairie dog when he sits up like that. He loves to go on walks and explore. He walks well on a leash. He also loves to chase balls. He is particularly fond of pushing a basketball around the yard with his nose. My backyard is securely fenced and decked with islands of vegetation. Mo manages to move the ball around all over the yard and over the boulder fountain that is in one of the islands.. He also loves to chase water drops squirted from a hose. I have a little female jack and they will chase water droplets for as long as you are willing to squirt them. One word of caution. Mo, like most Jack Russells, has high prey drive and would not be good in a home with cats or small children. He needs a secure fenced yard so that when off leash he is securely contained. It is not that Mo would want to run away (once he knew that he was in his forever home), it is just that whatever is on the other side of the fence is so much more interesting than what is contained in the fence. Mo loves to run after squirrels and would climb the pines in my yard to get them if he could.
Mo does not really play with my other dogs as much as he coexists with them. I actually have a mix of large and small dogs and he does bark (and this is not uncommon) at the adult male shepherd mix. Mo is housetrained though he will mark if he gets too excited. I suspect that has to do with the fact that he is one of several males in the house. He can be territorial when in his bed and will growl at any dog that gets too close (initially he growled a bit at me when startled while sleeping in his bed -- he has not done that in a while now). Actually that is another reason that he would not do well in a household with small children. He loves his food and treats but he is not food aggressive at all.
Mo is a very happy little guy. It takes him a little while to trust but I suspect that has to do with his being abandoned by his owners. He is a great dog for the right home.
