Caleb's Story...
Meet Caleb. He's a 1 year old mini-dashund, UTD, neutered and microchipped and weighs about 10 pounds! He's an adorable sweet little guy who loves everyone, young to old, and he loves to snuggle. He knows basic commands and is housebroken. Caleb has only been around a small dog and she doesn't care for him too much - she's older and set in her ways. Caleb hasn't been around cats so we don't know how he'd do around them. If you would like to make this sweet boy your newest family member, call 225-366-7277 or email pass@caabr.org. $100 rehome fee.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Caleb, a Baton Rouge Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
