My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Baby is full of energy and enthusiastic about everything! She is eager to please and is happy in any environment. She is a young girl approximately 1 - 1 1/2 years old and weighs 35 lbs. Baby loves to play with other dogs and is great with cats. She would love a family with older children who enjoyed tossing a ball in the backyard or another dog that loved to play. She would also make a great single companion.

Baby always wants to greet people, wags her tail and hopes that everyone wants to pet her. She is learning nicely not to jump up on people, even though she really wants to be close to everyone. She loves children and never nibbles at them and she respects them and follows their direction. She has not shown agression towards any people. She is slighty timid if approached quickly or touched/brushed etc in a way that is not familliar to her but that quickly goes away once she sees that there is nothing to be afraid of. She loves all people equally.

She is curious about cats, respectful of them, but does chase if they run away or run past quickly but only because she wants to get in on the game. She can nap peacefully beside them while they are at rest or walking around. She is always eager to greet dogs, regardless of the location. She greets dogs respectfully, sniffing and wagging her tail and allowing the other dog to sniff. She is not intimidated by other dogs, no matter their size, and she is not dominant over other dogs. She loves to run at the dog park with any type or size of other dog(s). If another dog is agressive towards her, she will match their level of agression immediately, but will instantly STOP if I call out to her my disapproval. She is generally VERY well behaved at the dog park and would benefit from regular visits.

She has slight anxeity when left alone or I am out of her sight. She will bark a few times and whine for a short period, but not longer than 2 minutes. She is improving at this and I think it would fade as soon as she is familliar with the routine. She does not resist being kenneled.

Baby loves balls. She fetches and brings it back, she releases it with encouragement. She is highly food motivated making her easy to train. She LOVES attention and adventures of ANY kind. She is a moderate shedder. Her coat is amazingly soft - like SILK. I heve never petted a smoother coat than hers. She barks when a visitor is at the door, but not excessively. Occasionally she will see activity outside or hear a "strange" noise while inside and bark a couple times.

She will sit, lay down and wait (all with encouragement). She has a difficult time to prolong any command as she wants to continue on to the NEXT thing immediately. Consistency will help improve her skills. She is house trained but a regular routine is necessary for her potty success. She is crated for short periods and will go in willingly, will bark/whine briefly then just nap. She will need further leash training and obedience classes would be a plus to help her hone her skills. For now the use of a halti would work well. She chews on doggie toys and does not chew kids toys, shoes or other items. She is posessive over toys/bones that she values and will guard them from other DOGS but not guard from humans. She can share MOST toys, and enjoys to tug with dogs or play keep away etc. Toys she will guard are immediately evident.

She wants to greet a person even as the door is opened (she tries to go out the door to greet them) or wants to follow people if they go outside. She has not darted out the door to just run at large. She just wants to see the visitor ASAP. Further training or consistency to make her wait would soon fix this.

Baby is efervescent and has a zest for life. Following me around during my routine (laundry, driving kids to school, etc) every step I take she follows me around like we are about to have the ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME and she doesnt want to miss a moment of it!!! She is gentle although energetic. She LOVES to be paid attention to, but does not demand affection. She is curious about everything and when she gets into mischief is easily re-directed. She responds well to verbal cues. Her best learning is achieved with positive encouragement and praise reward and an occasional food treat (food cannot be used always, as she loves it SOOOO much it can be distracting to her). She is a busy girl who will thrive with excersize and enthusiastic people. She is an excellent candidate for learning many tricks because she really enjoys being told what to do and would find this very rewarding.
