My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Boone. He is just the sweetest boy who truly wants nothing more than to be with you. He has stolen the hearts of everyone he meets! Boone is a 10 month old male whom weighs 33 pounds. Just meet him and you will fall in love. He is so friendly and sweet. He did not receive proper training and will very gently put his front paws on your for attention. We are working on that. However, do not let that scare you. He is very gentle, loving, and playful! He gets along with other dogs and cats! He was rescued from a kill shelter. While we were on our rescue trip, we could tell the moment we laid eyes on him that he was a sweetheart! He proves that to us by the minute. We know he needs to learn some basic commands but that should come easy. He wants nothing more than to please. UPDATE: The first thing anyone notices about Boone (after his handsome looks) when they meet him is what an absolute LOVE he is. He is as generous with his hugs as he is with his kisses and wants nothing more than to be with his human. He never goes far from his foster mother's side and it has been that way since the moment she first brought him home. While he is housebroken, it quickly became apparent that he has not received any additional training on basic commands or manners. We are currently working on such commands as "no", "sit", "down", "come" and "paw". He is still learning but, his desire to please his human by doing the right thing is evident - he was just never taught these basic behaviors/manners and it's obviously a little confusing to him. We have been going for long walks and he is very good on the leash. He does get a little distracted once in a while, but he never tries to pull and has not responded in any negative way when we've had children ride their bicycles past us, or he hears dogs barking, or we pass a dark figure walking down the street. To be completely honest, he is a perfect gentleman on a walk - alert to his surroundings but respectful to the person on the other end of the leash. Additionally, he is currently being fostered in a home with four other dogs, one puppy and an older, well-socialized cat. Upon his arrival at his foster home, he was initially indifferent to his furry-foster siblings. Over the past few days, this has begun to change as he now likes to play tug, loves to play chase (he runs like the wind!) and even wrestles around with them a little bit. With that said, he also didn't know what to do with toys (and there is a wide assortment in his foster home). He had an interest in them but just couldn't quite figure out what he was supposed to do with them. Now, however, he LOVES to play fetch and has become very good about bringing the ball right back and putting it down on the ground to be thrown again. If someone is willing to devote the time needed to train him, the attention to play with him and the love and affection that this sweet boy has been denied, then they are going to rewarded in ways I simply cannot find the words to describe. As his foster mother now, I can say that, after only having him in my life for a few days, I am already reaping in the rewards as I watch him learn and grow and receive his unconditional love.
