Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Three year old Suki first came into rescue more than a year ago. She had belonged to a teenager who got bored with having a puppy and soon relegated her to the back yard. We adopted her out to what we thought was a good home, but we were wrong. One member of the household didn’t like Suki and the other was not a pack leader. It was a stressful household and Suki was left to fill the role of alpha dog, something she is not comfortable with.
We were told that Suki would attack her doxie brother supposedly without provocation. Her new family tossed her outside (their words) and decided she could not longer come in the house. Needless to say, we raced to pick her up, promising this time to finally find Suki her well deserved good home.
Previously in her foster home, Suki played with the other foster doxies. She never started any fights although if someone else did, we admit she was happy to add her two cents. Now returned, she is still doing fine with the other doxies. However, due to her reported past behavior, we want Suki to either be an only dog or the home must have an experienced confident human pack leader.
Suki is very people friendly and shyly but happily greets newcomers. She loves to cuddle in the big bed and sit on laps. Due to her past experiences, Suki is more comfortable with women. We are working to help her get more comfortable with men. The foster home’s wonderful neighbor is taking Suki on walks to help her realize that there are men she can trust and whose presence means good things.
Suki came back into rescue overweight and now needs to lose a few pounds. We are working on that with controlled portions, the above mentioned walks and lengthy beach hikes. She should be back to her svelte self in no time.
Suki is crate trained but loves sleeping in the big bed. She is spayed and current on her vaccinations.
If you are interested in Suki, please fill out an adoption application at www.scdr.org and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.
The tax deductible donation for is $275.
