My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello There Beagle Lovers! My Name is "Matilda", but most people call me "Tilly," or "Miss Silly" I’m a smaller, Senior Beagle Girl, between 8-10 years old. For most of my life I was kept in a crate, where I raised many litters of puppies. My body didn't get the chance to develop as it should have, but we are working on that. I'm growing and progressing quickly outside the crate.

I’m learning how to walk on a leash, the first trips outside were quite overwhelming, but now I keep up with my bigger foster Sister and foster Bro!

My foster family tells me that I am an adorable sweet little girl, who is clearly thrilled to be more active, and seize every opportunity that I previously missed out on. At first, here in my foster's home, I did have a couple accidents where I marked my territory, but, after adjusting to the routine, I've been accident free! There is an older cat here, who I like to sniff, but most of the time I just leave him alone.

One of my favorite things to do is cuddle with my foster family, and snuggle with anyone who will let me (other dogs, cats, people). My second favorite thing is to stare into the shiny mirror here in the apartment, because there is a cute little beagle girl who stares right back at me! I’ve been fine not being in a crate when the people are gone, and simply cuddle up on the floor. I do need help getting up onto even lower furniture (10-12" off the ground), until I get strong enough, and learn how to jump up onto the cozy spots in the house.

I tend to do my business pretty quickly when we go outside, and I love that we go out in the morning, afternoon, and before bed in the evening. I rarely bark, but sometimes the others get me to, but it’s very soft and rare that I do. As I'm a smaller, quieter girl, I'd be fine in an apartment. The trucks and sirens by my foster's home sometimes scare me, but I'm getting accustomed to them too.

The dog park is awesome! And the bigger dogs there don't scare me. I also love to be off leash in the backyard, and don't try to escape or climb fences, as I'm just not built for it. I'm really enjoying my new opportunities, and I would make a family with children, or an older person or couple, very happy. Overall, I'm a couch potato, but am just as comfortable outside on long and short walks! I love being around other dogs, but If I were the only one, and was given the attention and love I need, I would be just fine.

Foster dad loves to take me to work with him, where I sniff around at first then cuddle up for hours on end. The car rides that I've been lucky enough to go on are lots of fun, and I haven't been car sick yet. Sometimes I can be a bit shy with strangers, but if they pet me, I quickly warm up and welcome the attention.

If you or your family is in search of a loving, mellow, couch potato-snuggler like me, then please contact the volunteers at MW BREW.
