Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Claire
Claire is a little female wire haired terrier mix that was taken as owner surrender from elderly woman in Jasper. She arrived at Sweetpups on 4/24/2012 and was taken to West End Animal Clinic for skin scraping. Her hair was sparse, especially on the head, and large flakes of skin/dandruff, were flaking off all over her body. Skin scraping yielded inconclusive results with low number of Demodex mites present. However, it was believed she was in the first stages of the condition and was given an ivermectin injection. Claire was dipped each week for two weeks in Lime Sulphur dip as it was later determined to be Sarcoptic mange and she received on-going shampoo treatment with anti-microbial shampoo.
Claire started her first course of wormer on 4/30/12 and another on 5/14/12 for intestinal parasites. She has received her first heartworm prevention and adopter will be required to keep her on prevention (purchased at vet) to prevent the onset of heartworm disease.
She has finished all three puppy shots as of 6/19/2012 and received rabies vaccination on 6/14/2012 at the time of her spay. For all general purposes, Claire is now completely vetted and ready for adoption.
She weighs only 8 pounds at 4 months of age, suggesting she will remain small (under 20 pound) when full grown. Her parents were believed to be a dachshund mix and wire hair terrier. She has fluffy hair that will require very little maintenance and seems to shed very little.
Claire is an outgoing little girl that will bark at strangers or other dogs she does not know. She is very playful with people and other dogs and would be the “A” personality type. She is not bossy but holds her own around other dogs and is often the initiator in play.
