My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There was once a family of chihuahuas that lived at the house of a breeder. The breeder used them over and over again to make a little money, not caring what conditions they lived in or what their medical needs were. Litter after litter was born and this breeder became very comfortable with the extra income at the expense of the little Chi Family. Any time she was questioned by authorities, she would make up owners for the extra dogs, hide them a few days, maybe give up one to the authorities just to get them off her back. When the coast was clear, she would bring out the dogs again and get on with the breeding of poorly cared for chihuahuas. One day a week before Christmas, no one really knows why but the breeder decided to leave town. They packed up a few belongings and stuck a few chosen breeders in their car and traveled off looking for greener pastures. Trouble is, they left several members of the CHI FAMILY behind to fend for themselves, left in pens and in the yard with big dogs they also left behind. The little Chi Family didn't miss the breeder, in fact they were rather glad to know they were gone. The problem was they left no food or water and they were entrapped in pens, helpless to gather for themselves. One little member of the chi family even had a litter of babies to care for. They tried to figure out what to do by calling a Chi Family meeting. While they were in the meeting, the realized hunger and thirst were not the only enemy or threat to their continued survival. It wasn't even the torrential downpour or the anticipated freezing weather they could feel in the air. No, it was the pack of ravenous large dogs that were their immediate enemy. They tried to hide in the mounds of rubbage that was left, only to be dug out by hungry large dogs. They cried for help and none came, they ran for their lives from snarling dogs with barred teeth. They ran, they cried, they dug underneath garbage. They ran until they could run no more and then fell prey to the snarling hungry pack and one by one became the food that kept the big dogs alive. The litter of pups was the first to go, the the older ones, those with infirmities, those that could run and hide no longer. These are three little survivors. They are safe and sound, warm and fed at Sweetpups and will be taking applications for forever homes where they can be loved and protected for the rest of their lives.
