Max's Story...
Max is an 8 year old housetrained sheltie. He is very gentle, calm and submissive. He will not walk up steps. Max came to Sparky after his owners took him to their vet to be euthanized rather than treat the tumor on his let. The tumor has been removed and Max is doing just fine! He does have hypo thyroid ism and requires daily medication (2x's daily about $30 a month) He is available to an indoor only home. If you are interested in Max please contact Sparky at 270-684-4787 or email max@sparkyrescue.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Max, a Owensboro Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog for sale in Owensboro, or seeking a Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog dog from a breeder in Owensboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Owensboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Owensboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog breeders who help with Sheltie, Shetland Sheepdog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Owensboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
