Pierre's Story...
Pierre is looking for l’amour! This mature handsome gentleman charms everyone he meets with his affectionate and outgoing nature. He wears a very elegant tuxedo (complete with plume tail) at all times, and look at those wild, white whiskers!

Pierre has lived with other cats and a cat-friendly dog, but what he really loves the most is people, and especially people who provide a warm lap. He loves being fussed and fawned over, combed and brushed, and generally given the adoration he deserves.

When we rescued Pierre, he had been living on his own for awhile, and had tangled with something that injured his left ear and eye. The ear had healed up, but his eye was too damaged to save. He recovered from that surgery very well. We guess that Pierre is about 10 years old, but he has the playful spirit of a kitten, and needs a little play time every day. He will reward you with many happy hours of lap time in appreciation.

He must have been in considerable pain when he came to us, but even then he showed his sweet and easygoing personality. Now he’s obviously feeling much better, and enjoying life to the fullest.

Because Pierre is so outgoing and eager to meet new people, we think he would made an excellent shop cat for a book store, antique shop, or other small retail establishment. Also, although he loves being with people during the day, he prefers sleeping in his own bed at night.

Pierre has excellent house manners and no special dietary needs, but he will need a drop of medicine in his good eye every day to make sure it stays healthy. Pierre is agreeable to that, and the medicine is not expensive.

Pierre, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV. His adoption fee is $80.

If you are interested in meeting Pierre, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.

Animal Rescue & Care Fund, Inc. is a small rescue organization. We rescue homeless animals only, and do not accept owner-surrendered pets. All our animals live with volunteers in their homes until they are matched with the right permanent family. Thank you for considering one of our pets for adoption.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pierre, a Portland Domestic Mediumhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Mediumhair for sale in Portland, or seeking a Domestic Mediumhair cat from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Mediumhair breeders who help with Domestic Mediumhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
