My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Simon is a beautiful, silly, easy going, big yellow lab mix. He’s about 5 years old and is currently 87 pounds, a good weight for him. Simon loves to go on hikes with foster dad and the other dogs and he is good off leash. He has a great temperament and enjoys meeting new people. Simon is house trained and loves to sleep in bed if you permit it! (Better have a king sized bed). Simon has lived with 31 foster dogs and he is looking for a new home because he isn’t doing well with a senior resident dog—although he has done fine with all these foster dogs. He loves to play with the younger foster dogs and runs around the hobby farm on a daily basis. Really Simon is a big teddy bear and will make you laugh daily. He is used to a high quality diet which should be continued and he should be fed twice daily. Simon is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 rescue and he is fostered near Belle Plaine. He is fully vetted and neutered and his adoption fee is $200.00.
