My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Lexi is an adorable mixed breed puppy who will become a fairly large dog. She is 3 months old and weighs 30 pounds and has big feet! Her breed mix is very hard to tell, but she may have some collie, shepherd, beagle and several other breeds. Together they make up a darling package of a pup. Foster mom says Lexi is very smart, loyal, and lovable! She is eager to please and is very focused on her people. She does well off leash, knows sit, down and come. Lexi adores kids, is great with other dogs and has a gentle temperament. She is house trained on a schedule and is crate trained. Lexi is surprisingly quiet and she does like playing with the great dane in her foster home. Because she loves humans--especially kids, another dog isn't required if there's some kids for her to play with. Lexi is a puppy and needs someone home much of the time for the next 9 months so she develops well emotionally and so she learns some basic commands. This is a sweetheart of a pup so don't pass her up! Lexi is with a 501c3 non profit rescue. Her adoption fee is $300 which covers her spay, heartworm pills, shots, worming, and HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: REQUIRED

• Status of adopter: 30+

• Previous dog owning experience: Preferred

• Age of children: Amy age if supervised

• Another dog in the home: Preferred but not required if there's kids at home

• Cat(s) in the home: Not tested, probably cat safe if introduced as a puppy

• Fenced yard: Not required, she stays by her people
