My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Minnie's owner went to jail she surely didn't end up in Disney World. Instead she landed in an overcrowded shelter where her days were numbered. Luckily, an Izzy's Place foster mom saw Minnie's picture and heard her story. Having a special love for black labs and knowing black dogs are not often adopted through shelters, she made room for one more (even though there really wasn't much room). Minnie really doesn't take up much space at all anyway. She went on a diet when she arrived in Colorado and she now has her beach body back (she's only 41 lbs.)!

While Minnie enjoys running around, playing fetch, taking long walks and wagging her tail, she does not have a puppy's crazy energy! She loves to ride in the car and enjoys chasing rabbits. Thank goodness they're faster than she is! She knows quite a few basic commands, has great recall and is very obedient. Minnie is fully housetrained and knows how to use the doggie door. This girl is super sweet, loves attention and really enjoys belly rubs. She would love to sleep with you on your bed, but she will get off the bed and lay on her own if told to do so.

She is up to date on all required vaccinations, spayed, and on heartworm preventative meds. She has no arthritis issues at all. Recently, she had a full dental cleaning so she's ready to flash her pearlie whites when she meets you.

Minnie's great with other dogs and cats too. She's playful, silly, energetic and oh-so-lovable! She'll make a great walking companion, maybe even some CO hikes? Minnie's always smiling, nothing gets this girl down. Minnie adapts quickly to new situation and bonds to her "human" in no time at all. Whatcha think? Can you give Minnie the life she deserves?

Our adoption process includes a completed adoption application, phone interview and home visit by one of our volunteers. We are not a shelter. Each dog is placed in a foster home where they remain until adopted. Each foster parent has the final say on who adopts their foster dog. This is not first come, first serve as we want to find the most appropriate match for each dog and family.
