My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"WILLOW"
Indian Ringneck
Fostered by Nancy D of Orlando, FL

This beautiful little Juliette recently lost her Romeo. Willow is a very pretty blue indian ringneck girl. She is entertaining to watch, and LOVES to play with her toys – especially the foot toys that are laid out on top of her cage. Watching her, it is clear that she is quite a clever girl. She is also highly food motivated. She will jump right onto her foster mom she has anything that could be tasty/appealing, and will occasionally come over to her if she is bored. When she feels comfortable and outgoing, Willow will climb onto her foster’s arm, and if approached slowly/gently she will coo while her head is stroked. This does have to be on her terms however, or she may give swift nip – which we are working on.

At the time she was surrendered, Willow was living in a very small rusty cage with almost no toys. She was understandably very unhappy and plucking because she recently lost her soul mate, then her home, and had very little enrichment left to enjoy in her life. Entering foster care has really given her a second chance. She has a nice new cage with abundant toys which she thoroughly enjoys, and with these basic amenities she has not plucked at all! In fact, her feathers are growing back in nicely, and she is looking more beautiful every day :)

Much like a little girl, Willow will still throw temper tantrums from time to time, which involve picking up a foot toy and hitting the ground while she yells at it. This goes on for a minute or so, and then she cools down. She does also ‘flock call’ some times when her foster mom leaves the room, for although she often still hides her affection she really does not want to be alone. Although she is Not frightened of people, she is used to bullying with her beak to get her way; and her foster mom is working to help her understand that she will get much better results by being nice (which she can do!). She does not trust her foster’s dog, or other animals, and will display disapproval if they approach her, however it is very likely that she dearly misses her recently-passed ringneck companion, as she appreciates the mirror that is kept alongside the cage. Her foster mom thinks that her perfect home will be with someone who is looking for a 2nd indian ringneck as a companion. Can you give this little girl the love that she’s been missing
