My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This poor little thing found herself stuck in a high kill shelter. We were able to rescue her and get her to New York. The second picture is a terrible picture of her from her intake at the shelter. She now looks like a new dog after we have had her cleaned up and groomed. Dogs there are only given a few days to find a home before the unthinkable happens to them! Mia was one of the lucky ones! She is an adult dog at 2 years old. Mia is a Porkie-a Pug and a Yorkie mix girl. She is a small dog too at only 18 lbs. Mia has been through a lot in her days and we feel she would do best in an environment with no small children. She loves people however and loves to cuddle and play! She is a wonderful dog with an interesting personality. Mia is on thyroid medication 2 times per day for her hypothyroidism. This is an inexpensive medication that she will probably need for the rest of her life. Please adopt her so we can save the life of another wonderful soul that needs us! Email us today!

Please email us only regarding the adoption of our canines. We are very sorry but we simply do not have time to return everyone's phone calls. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Please email courtneyvalent@hotmail.com to get an adoption application for me emailed to you. You will be so glad you did. Be sure to write MIA in the subject line of the email. Thank you for checking me out. I will be waiting to hear that you emailed about me!!!

Why Adopt?

Adopting rather than shopping for your next pet will help to reduce the number of animals euthanized. Adopting a pet actually saves TWO LIVES as you free up space for another animal in need to find lasting love through the wonder of adoption.

You’ll get a pet who is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and healthy. As opposed to purchasing or getting a “free to a good home” pet, you’ll welcome a fully-vetted companion animal in to your life.

Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of shelter pets are homeless through no fault of their own. Divorce, financial constraints, time limitations and NOT the animal’s health &/or behavior are the most common reasons an animal is left homeless.

You’ll save money. Many pets in the shelter system are already spayed or neutered and if not, shelters often receive a discount from their participating veterinarian and passes the savings on to the adoptive family. Also, adoption fees are much less expensive than buying from a breeder or pet store.
