My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kaine is only about a 1 year old and weights around 12 - 15 lbs. On the larger side of the breed. Full grown.

Kaine is a small, sturdy Shih-Tzu. Alert and lively. Happy and hardy, packed with character. This gentle loyal boy makes friends easy and responds well co consistent patient training. Courageous and clever. Playful and spunky, this affectionate little dog likes to be with people and other pets. Not a big barker. Rides well in cars and leash trained. Seems to be housetrained as long as let out regularly.

Wonderful companion for active household. Homes with older dog-savvy children will be considered. Experienced Shih-Tzu or similar breed pet owners preferred. Ideal playmate for other dog(s).

The Shih-Tzu needs a daily walk. Play will take care of a lot of their exercise needs, however, as with all breeds, play will not fulfill their primal instinct to walk. They will also enjoy a good romp in a safe open area off lead, such as a large fenced in yard. These little dogs requires a good daily grooming using a bristle brush. We had him trimmed to make the coat easier and less time consuming to care for.

This poor boy was turned to SHHS by his owner who only had him for few weeks. He was given to her by family member who was moving away and couldn't take him. Unfortunately his new owner found out that her lease didn't allow pets. She had no choice but to give him up. It was a pretty good move for the dog since he wasn't well taken are off. He was matted and covered in fleas. At the time he was not neutered or current on shots.

Since then he was all "fixed" up and now he is ready for his new forever home. Please consider adopting Kaine.

Thank you for your interest in Kaine. The rescue who is bringing Kaine has the information on Kaine's background. The rescue has asked Dog Days to pre-screen interested adopters for all of their dogs coming to our event.

APPLICATION FORM: http://godogdays.org/find-my-new-best-friend.htm (Copy and paste to browser.)

If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property. Dog Days will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters. As a policy, Dog Days will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event by 11:00am Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. We will be posting more information on each dog as we get closer to the event weekend which is June 23-24 at Chester Fairgrounds. PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE GIVEN TO THE BEST HOME, NOT FIRST IN LINE.
