Maddy is a lovely girl. who is extremely laid back and easy going. She gets along with everyone and everything. Quiet and always stays out of trouble. Enjoys playing. Loves to get kisses and sit on your lap. Alert and smart. Rides well in cars, leash trained and seems to be housetraind as long as let out regularly. Ideal little companion for most families.
Due to her size she is not recommended to homes with very small children. Perfect playmate for another younger dogs.
Shih-Tzu coats requires frequent brushing to keep the coat neat and free of mats. Keeping her coat short is great option for those who want to make the grooming easier and less time consuming. Bathe as needed. Daily exercise is needed to keep this girl happy, fit and healthy both physically and mentally.
Maddy came in from a high kill shelter in GA. She was turned in as a stray. Since her family didn't care to look for her she was scheduled to be killed. Southern HOPE stepped in and saved this girl. She was in horrible shape. She was very matted, covered in fleas, she was scared and couldn't stop shaking. And who can blame her? She didn't understand where she was and what was going on. In no time Maddy turned out to be absolutely perfect little dog. She did had to be shaved by the vet however. In a matter of time she will get her full coat. PLEASE consider adopting this little girl. She needs to know there are people out there who are responsible and who do care.
Maddy has been spayed, vaccinated, de-wormed, and microchipped. Se is also heartworm negative. The adoption fee also includes microchip registration. She is current on flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.

If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property. Dog Days will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters. As a policy, Dog Days will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event by 11:00am Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. We will be posting more information on each dog as we get closer to the event weekend which is June 23-24 at Chester Fairgrounds. PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE GIVEN TO THE BEST HOME, NOT FIRST IN LINE.

ADOPTION FEES are never over $385 and there are never additional charges for complying with CT laws. All dogs and puppies are:
~ spayed/neutered
~ microchipped
~ dewormed
~ heatworm-tested negative if dog is of age to be tested ( 6 months or older)
~ up to date on all age appropriate shots
~ treated with a flea preventative
Each dog and puppy has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian who will also be on site to answer any questions you may have. We'll have professional groomers on site to give your new pal a bath before you take them home (no charge) and our adoption bags will give you information and samples for use at home.
