My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Odin is a 2 year old (DOB 4/13/10) mantle male with natural ears. He is a very young acting 2 year old Dane! You might say he is all puppy… Sadly, Odin’s life doesn’t appear to have gotten off to a good start. He was dumped in a shelter on his 2nd birthday. According to information provided to the shelter, Odin spent his life isolated from the family he lived with, was never walked and was only let outside 10 minutes at a time. At the time of his evaluation by MAGDRL it was found that he cowers at loud voices and quick hand movements. While in the shelter Odin was neutered and had an umbilical hernia repaired. He came into his foster home 15 pounds underweight and suffering from a bacterial skin infection on his underside and paws and conjunctivitis. But Odin is one resilient pup! Since being in his foster home, Odin has shown that he is all puppy just looking to explore his world, experience life and please his foster mom and dad. He is currently living with his foster mom and dad, a 5 year old foster Dane sister with Wobblers and a 4 year old foster Dane brother who is deaf and visually impaired. Odin is house trained, doesn’t chew on anything except his toys, knows all his basic commands, is learning to walk on a Gentle Leader and a martingale collar, he sits and is learning to wait before diving into his food bowl, does not climb on the furniture and is crate trained. Odin does counter surf and will pull if walked on a flat buckle collar. He is very much a Velcro Dane who loves to follow his people around and have his big loveable face in their laps, on their shoulder giving hugs or into whatever his foster mom and dad are doing. His foster mom and dad are working with him to learn not to climb on people’s laps (literally) or gently mouth their hands. Odin is full of nonstop puppy energy. He loves to run and wrestle with his foster Dane sister, who is unfortunately a little too frail for Odin’s size and energy. His foster Dane brother is a little more timid do to his hearing and visual impairment but will try to play with Odin for short periods. Odin would do best in an active home where he is included in family activities. He would love to have a yard to run in and a canine companion with lots of energy to play with and help him burn his puppy energy. Do to his size and energy, Odin would be best in a home with children 12 or over as he doesn’t quite understand personal space or how to operate the breaks when running. He is also a little too interested in the running, yelling and squealing of younger children because he wants to run and play with them. Younger children could easily be knocked down or stepped on accidentally by Odin. It is unknown how Odin is with cats but he does chase birds, bunnies and squirrels in the yard. A condition of Odin’s adoption will be obedience class. If you are looking for a Great Dane puppy minus the housebreaking, teething, and chewing Odin is the boy for you!
