My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adopted 6/16/12!

Daisy is a 5 year old pure bred Golden gal who is simply stunning. She was purchased as a very young pup from a breeder in NJ by her current family. Try as they might, they just cannot seem to keep up with having two dogs in their lives. Regretfully, they have asked SGRR to help them find a home for darling Daisy. Daisy’s family has provided her with excellent vet care. She is spayed, heart worm negative, and up to date on all of her vaccinations. She takes some simple medications for allergies and thyroid regulation but is very healthy overall.

Daisy spends much of her days alone and outside, behind the confines of an invisible fence. She gets little exercise and longs for companionship. She has put on a little weight due to her inactivity, but proper diet and exercise will have Daisy back in shape in no time! SGRR’s volunteer who evaluated Daisy said she was not used to being on a leash but responded very quickly to gentle corrections with a choke collar. This girl really wants to walk and will learn quickly that her leash and collar mean “FUN!”

This blonde bombshell wants to be the sole object of her family’s affection. Although she has lived with another dog all her life, Daisy’s current family feels she would do best as an only dog. While Daisy seems to want to enjoy the company of other dogs, she has not been socialized properly in this manner, and thus, needs direction. She does not like sharing her toys or food with the other resident dog in the household. However, our SGRR volunteer was able to take toys and food from Daisy without any signs of aggression.

Daisy has many wonderful traits and is completely house-trained. She longs to live her life with someone who has time for her. She longs to be cherished and adored. She longs to feel as if she is an important part of her human’s life. If you have the dedication to aide in this sweet angel’s metamorphosis, then be sure to apply quickly. Daisy is a true diamond in the rough who needs to know she is not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well.

About Our Rescue

Before being approved to adopt, all potential adopters need to complete our online application and participate in our pre-adoption review process. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may find that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are regularly getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and get approved so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready.

A contract is signed the day of adoption. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring the rescue to a vet within 7 business days. The dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. If your vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog is returned and a full refund is provided.

The information provided on each dog is based on observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters and when available, trainers. While we do our best to report any and all issues, SGRR does not make any guarantees as to the health or temperament of any dog. Dogs evolve differently in different environments and we cannot predict with any certainty how the dog you adopt will act in your home.

Many of our dogs are fostered in private homes and we do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! The rescue retains title to the dog and can never be released or sold. Should the adopters no longer be able to keep the dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer caring for their Golden in a way we see fit. Adopters then have to agree to follow up visits as needed.
