My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lady, about 9 years old, was found as a stray in MO, and transferred to a very crowded in shelter in Joplin where her time ran out. The staff at both facilities in MO moved heaven and earth to save this girl (seniors and black dogs are the first to be euthanized) because she is just so sweet! She was actually the "office dog" in both places while they were trying to find her a placement. She was sponsored as a "star" dog and a kind person sponsored her vetting as well there.

Lady is beyond wonderful in spite of her rough recent history. At some point, someone cared enough about her to housetrain her, and she has lovely manners. She was an angel when her coat was being shaved off because of how badly matted it was.

Lady is great with other dogs, and loves everyone. Could you provide Lady the home she is longing get? She should have many years of love to give you…and all she needs is a soft bed, good food and your love!

NEWS FROM HER FOSTER HOME (7/5/12):
Thanks for checking in on Lady. She really is a sweet dog but she has some weight to lose. She's quite confident and does not like green beans so I'm feeding her twice a day and giving her about 2/3 - 3/4 cup of dry food. She enjoyed having cherry tomatoes yesterday. She has recovered nicely from kennel cough. She has learned to use the doggie door and hasn't bothered my cats since she's been here.

She went to a nearby lake with me and is really good on leash and with the other dogs. Where we go is an off leash area, so there were dogs everywhere. She went into the water to cool off but didn't seem interested in swimming, just cooling off. She loves tennis balls and playing fetch. I'm thinking she must have belonged maybe to an older person who fed her treats and human food all the time, and didn't exercise her enough. She likes to play and be with people. I hope someone scoops her up as she's a great dog!!

Our adoption process includes an application, phone interview, and home visit. As we try to make the best match between dog and adopter, it is not first come/first served.
