My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Delilah is a cheerful, happy-go-lucky, fun-loving girl. She is very pretty but modest and affectionate. She would be a playful and lively companion for children. She loves being with people. Delilah would do best in a home with a yard to play in and a good daily walk. She would be an excellent candidate for obedience training and could be trained for many activities. Delilah is still a pup at just under a year old and is a mid sized dog weighing 44 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say about Delilah:

Delilah is a lapdog that is not a lapdog. She is absolutely gorgeous. She is very much still a puppy. She is so happy it is hard to keep up with her good mood. She is so happy to have someone pay attention to her. Because of her size, I would hesitate to leave her alone with small children. She is not aggressive just excitable. When we first got her she was a bit timid. As she gets used to her environment she is less and less shy. She is proving to be a loving, affectionate and playful companion.

When Delilah sees other pets, she immediately wants to play. She thinks everyone is her friend.

If you haven’t guessed by now, her favourite thing to do is play, play, play. Running, jumping, chasing a ball or going to the dog park are all very fun for her. When she is done playing she just lays down for a nap. (Beardies are fairly active in the home and would not suit apartment living. Delilah would require a least a small yard with a daily walk and trips to the dog park where she could run and play with friends.)

Delilah’s coat is stunning. She is tri-colored, with white socks on the front paws. With regular brushing there would be next to no shedding.

At home and most anywhere she has gone, she has not barked. She is very quiet even when playing.

Delilah is a fast learner. She is beginning to understand basic commands such as down, sit, and stay. I think she will learn anything you wish to teach her. She is learning to let us know when she needs to go outside. She will do her business every time you let her out. She does wait to go outside when she is in her crate. The crate is used whenever we are not home and at night. When it is time to go to bed she is will go in the crate and go right to sleep. During the day she is happy to go in but will howl for a short time. She would definitely need to be crated until she can be fully trusted in the house and learns what she can and cannot chew on. She rides well in the car. She will just lay on the floor. We are working with her to walk like a lady on a leash. She does pull but she will stop as soon as you pull back on the leash.

Delilah has fabulous table manners. She will only eat the food that you give her. She does not take food when not offered. She does chew things she should not. I believe this is because she is still quite young and will grow out of this with training.

Delilah would make a family a very happy. She is a great student, a loyal friend, fun and loving.

If you would like to make Delilah part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
