Missy's Story...
Missy is a gorgeous, soft 2-3yo female collie mix. She was dumped at a county kill shelter and was facing euthanization on 16 March 2012, prior to being rescued by Save Our Florida Pets. Our photos make her look bigger than she is, she is only around 30lbs. Missy was a little timid when she arrived, but she quickly came around, once she was out of the terrifying environment of a kill shelter. We have vaccinated her, wormed her and started her on heartworm and flea preventative. She is heartworm negative. She is spayed. She is absolutely precious and very, very gentle and sweet. A great size, a great temperament and very beautiful, making her a great choice for a family pet. She is a higher energy dog (collie) so would love an active person or family to play with. She would also be a great candidate for fun dog sports such as flyball, agility etc. Her adoption donation is $85 but we are currently running a special whereby any of our dogs that are adopted out prior to 30 June 2012 will have their adoption donation reduced by 50%. So... come adopt your higher energy, loveable and adorably cute workout buddy for only $40.

Please visit our website at Save Our Florida Pets dot com for lots of photos and a video of Missy.

Our adoption process is very easy and fast! We ask that you read the descriptions of all of our available dogs and if there are any that catch your eye, please fill out our easy online adoption application. The applications are answered very quickly. If we believe the dog will be a great lifetime match for you (and your family/existing pets), then we will set up an immediate appointment for you to come out and enjoy a playdate. In many instances, where the application has been pre-approved, the adoptive family may take the dog home the same day.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, wormed, up to date on heartworm and flea preventative. They were all rescued at the 11th hour from a high kill shelter. We are a working horse farm, so we kindly ask that you make an appointment to view dogs in order that we can stop training the horses and give you our undivided attention.

We cannot guarantee that these dogs are fully house-broken, nor can we guarantee that they will not suffer from some form of separation anxiety. Our dogs interact with the other rescues here, they get a lot of attention and a lot of exercise. During the day, they are outside in huge, comfortable, shady kennels and overnight, they live in converted 12 x 12 horse stalls. So, they will need adjusting back to living in a home. We strongly recommend crate training and most of our dogs are crate trained. The crate is not cruel - but rather a place of peace, comfort and security where the dog has its own place to eat, play with toys and sleep in peace. We will let you know if a dog suffers from separation anxiety and advise those dogs will probably be best with a home where somebody is there all time :-)

Please read our home page article "Things To Consider Before You Adopt ..." just to make sure you are fully prepared for this lifetime commitment of welcoming a new family member into your home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Missy, a Eustis Collie/Corgi dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie/Corgi for sale in Eustis, or seeking a Collie/Corgi dog from a breeder in Eustis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Eustis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Eustis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie/Corgi breeders who help with Collie/Corgi rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Eustis paves the way for another one to be saved.
