My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

4.5 month old Copper originally belonged to someone who was not feeding him. Fortunately for him, he had a guardian angel that took him out of this situation. However, his guardian angel was in no position to have another dog, so she contacted rescue.

Copper is extremely sweet and gentle. He has the most adorable face and soft coat. He’s clearly only part dachshund as he has longer legs than most doxies and he is a very fine boned dog. (If dachshunds in general are stoneware, than Copper Is porcelain). He is a dog that does not photograph well . While he appears cute in photos, in person he is absolutely irresistible.

Copper is beginning to get playful now that he knows he is safe. We think he would be workable with cats. Because he has longer legs, stairs in the home would not be a problem for him. At his guardian angels house he was around young children and was fine with them. He doesn’t appear to have a cranky bone in his body. So far Copper has not proven to be a barker so we think he would be fine as an apartment dog.

Copper would benefit from getting daily walks to help him feel more comfortable.
We have had Copper neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. He has learned to sleep in his crate at night but he loves to cuddle on the big bed. We think Copper will be about 10 lbs at his adult weight.
