Pancho's Story...
"Hello and hi there everybody....if you are looking for a very sweet and easy-going Chihuahua, then we need to get to know each other. My name is Pancho, and I'm eight years old. My family brought me to the shelter because they were moving, and they could not take me with them. It almost broke my heart, but I know that there is someone out there who will love me and provide me with a new loving home. So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a very gentle boy, and I love people very much. Everyone here at the shelter is in love with me because I'm such a wonderful dog!. Since I'm a bit older, I'd do best in a home without children. I get along nicely with other dogs, so I would love to have a small dog buddy to keep me company. I love to go for walks, but I also love to snuggle up and relax. My hair is short, so you know that I would be extremely easy to take care of too. When night time comes to the shelter and everything is quiet here, that is the time when all of the animals, including me, share their hopes and dreams with each other, of finding a new forever home with a loving person or a family. I know for a fact that I'd love to have a new forever home, with a small yard, where I could enjoy myself, and then have my very own snuggly bed in the house, so that I could stay close to my person or my family. A trip to our shelter wouldn't be complete until you and I have met, so just ask our great Shelter Staff to introduce us, and we just may discover that we are meant to be together "FUR"EVER. We can get acquainted in one of our nice exercise yards that they have for us here. Also, MY ADOPTION FEE IS ONLY $30 because I'm a SUPER SENIOR! About Our Shelter...
We are the Animal Shelter for the City of El Cajon. We also house animals for the City of La Mesa. We take in strays and animals relinquished by their owners from these two City's only. We adopt out the animals that are not claimed by their owners. You do not have to live within the City to adopt an animal from us. We sometimes have animals other than dogs and cats.

We are located in the City of El Cajon which is east of San Diego. 1275 N. Marshall is two blocks north of Fletcher Parkway, Marshall runs parallel with the trolley tracks.

We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm. The latest we start an adoption is 4:30. We are closed Sundays and Mondays.
Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fee for dogs is $80.00 and cats are $80.00 All other animal adoption fee's are based on the type of animal.

We do an evaluation with you and the animal to be sure that it is the best animal for you. We require that all children in the household under 9 years old be evaluated with the animal and if you are adopting a dog and you currently own a dog, your dog needs to be evaluated with the new dog to be sure they get along.
