My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darby is one of the sweetest little lady Jacks we have met in a long time. We saved her from a rural shelter. She is very affectionate and loves to be with people. She also likes other dogs and plays happily with them without any sign of aggression. We think she would make a fine companion to a male Jack Russell or other dog.

Darby loves to chase squirrels to the tree and wait for them until they make the leap to “safety.” She loves to play with her toys and her best girlfriend Shelley, a one-year-old mix, at her foster home. She loves her foster mom and her foster mom absolutely adores her. She will cuddle up next to you while you watch TV or read a book.

Her vet thinks she is 5 years old but she looks older because of her coloring. She has nice energy but is calm by Jack Russell standards. She has probably had at least a litter of pups and may have been dumped by a “back-yard breeder” once she was past breeding age. The good news is Darby is loved and happy now and gets to play and be a pup at last. She just needs her special forever home to make her new life complete.

At some point prior to our rescue of Darby, she had a surgery on her left rear leg. There is a pin inserted and she sometimes favors her other legs to compensate. Her vet believes there are no issues requiring medical treatment and that she is in no pain. She simply favors the other leg.

Darby is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. She is heartworm negative, on heartworm/parasite prevention medication, on flea/tick control and has been spayed.
