Facts about POE

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Black (All)
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Poe is like a work of deco art. All shiny black, he is either a silhouette or a shadow or a small panther in pose.

Poe is a young adult. He is sometimes a bit wild, starting a game of chase throughout the cattery. Other times he is friendly and looking for some human attention. And other times I swear he rolls his eyes at me!

Poe does get along well with the other cats and his style of play is fast tag and wrestling, so similarly robust cats would be a good match. He is calming down a little and playing well enough with others. We do think he would be afraid of dogs, although older or very calm dogs would likely be ok with introductions.

Poe's special need is that he has the herpes upper respiratory virus. This is not terrible, but it is contagious to other cats. Most cats developed immunity from most forms of herpes if nursed by their moms. The virus acts like an allergy - the cat can demonstrate runny eyes or perhaps sneezing. It is more obvious if the cat is stressed. It can be lessened by giving l-lysine treats (inexpensive and do not need an prescription). Poe likes his chews!

We think a good home for Poe would be with adults that want to play some games with him, talk, give him some attention is what he needs.

Most of all Poe, needs you.

About Animal Resource Center

About Our Rescue Group...

ARC is a non-profit, no-kill pet adoption organization.
Our goal is to find caring forever homes for the animals, with an emphasis on owner education and pet behavioral support.
We believe that when owners understand a pet's behavior (evolutionary and history), they can then understand and are more likely to follow appropriate training and everyday care.

Our Adoption Process...

ARC requires an application which include a matching form so we can discuss with you the type of pet you want for your lifestyle and which pets would best be suited for your home.

We prefer that all family members come over to meet the pet so everyone is comfortable with their new family member and to answer any questions you might have. ARC provides free behavioral support for the lifetime of the adopted pet.

A contract and a $50 tax-deductible donation is required. If you cannot keep the pet, it must be returned to ARC, regardless of pet's age.

Pets are inside companion animals and cats that have claws may not be declawed.
